COLLEGE TECH
PREP
In
the College Tech Prep program, students focus on developing specific skill
sets in technical, high-demand fields. Students taking this pathway to college will
find themselves entering college at a higher readiness level and with college
credits already to their name—and, often, with a Tech Prep scholarship for
their achievements. Sinclair Community College reports that College Tech
Prep students have higher attendance rates, make better grades, require
fewer remedial classes, and are less apt to drop out of college. High School
sophomores are eligible to sign up for a College Tech Prep program to begin
their junior year of high school.
Prospective College Tech Prep students must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Have a 2.0 GPA
- Have passed Algebra I with a “C” or better
- Have passed Biology I with a “C” or better (for
Allied Health Technologies Tech Prep, Biotechnology Tech Prep, and Sports
Medicine Tech Prep)
- Computer keyboarding skills.
- Good attendance.
