Adult Education Welding Short-Term Classes Fall 2018

  • Mig Welding I - Includes all position welding of mild steel using basic joint geometry. Students will use .035 inch E70S-6 wire with 75-25 argon, and CO2 shielding gas. Includes some welding of aluminum in the flat and vertical position. On the first night of class, students should bring Mig gloves, safety glasses, side cut wire cutters, and pliers or vice grips.

  • Mig Welding II - Learn flat, vertical up, and overhead positions using 3/16 inch to ½ inch thick mild steel. This course will also cover the proper procedure for oxy-acetylene, plasma cutting, and braze welding. Prerequisite: Basic Mig Welding course or a minimum of one (1) year experience in Mig welding. Mig Certification Testing Fee of $74 is not included in the cost of the course. Those wishing to be certified must pay the $74 to the front office.

  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding I - Covers all position welding of mild steel using basic joint geometry with 1/8 inch and 3/32-inch diameter stick electrodes of various types. Also covers the proper procedure for oxy-acetylene and plasma cutting. Students should bring safety glasses, welding gloves, and pliers or vice grips to the first class.

  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding II - Covers all position welding of mild steel using 3/16 inch to 1/2-inch-thick mild steel. This course will also cover the proper procedure for oxy-acetylene and plasma cutting. Students have the option to test for certification at an additional cost. Shielded Metal Arc Certification Testing Fee of $130 is not included in the cost of the course. Those wishing to be certified must pay $130 to the front office.

  • Tig Welding I - Covers flat, horizontal, and vertical welding of mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum using basic joint geometry. In the lab, students will use pure and 2% thoriated tungsten, shielded with argon gas. The student should bring Tig gloves, safety glasses, and pliers or vice grips to the first class.
    • 6 Weeks I 51 Hours I $690

  • Tig Welding II - Covers all position welding on 1/16 inch or less mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum using basic joint geometry. Prerequisite: Tig Welding course or a minimum of one (1) year experience in Tig welding. Tig Certification Testing Fee of $74 is not included in the cost of the course. Those wishing to be certified must pay $74 to the front office.
