Auto Collision

“With factory jobs on the decline, skilled trades are going to be the answer for individuals to support families and households in the future. All programs at the Miami Valley CTC are preparing our youth for the service industry immediately after graduation. From that point, they will have the resources to choose post-secondary education or simply use the skills they learned in their junior and senior years of high school. Pretty Cool.” - Mr. Phillabaum

Program Activities

  • Receive training in refinishing, structural repair, and non-structural repair
  • Learn welding, metalwork, detailing and much more
  • Learn how to estimate damage and the cost of materials and parts
  • Be prepared to become gainfully employed anywhere in the world
  • Participate in the advanced placement program
  • Potential to earn college credits and scholarship money to Sinclair Community College
The Auto Collision Tech Prep program trains students to become gainfully employed in three areas of collision repair, refinishing, non-structural repair, and structural repair. Each one of these areas is considered specialized positions separately or can be a combination of the three. Also, as part of the training process, students develop knowledge of estimating damage and cost of materials and parts needed to complete the repairs.

Many competencies make up the skill level required to do quality collision repair. Students develop good welding and detailing skills the first quarter of their junior year. Throughout the rest of the two-year program, students will develop skills in metal working, mechanical, frame repair, and refinishing. Patronage is included with students using real life skills to serve the community.

Working with local collision repair shops, students are put to work through our advanced placement program. With the skills students take with them upon graduation, they can become gainfully employed in any part of the United States or the world.
