FRANKLIN MONROE Middle School-MVCTC BPA QUALIFIES FOR NATIONALS

On January 25, 2017 students from the Franklin Monroe Middle School-MVCTC Business Satellite participated in Business Professionals of America (BPA) competitive events for Middle Level students. Students participated in written Open Events and written/presentation events with the opportunity to qualify for BPA State Competitive Events.

Open Event Results: Business Math Concepts – Aaron Crist, First; Zack Wogoman, Second; Bradley Rumble, Third; Jen Wolf, Fourth, Hannah Limbert, Fifth, Trinity Gilbert, Sixth. Business Communication Skills Concepts – Maya Diceanu, First. Computer Literacy Concepts – Zach Wilson, First; Daniel Nottingham, Second; Hunter Mills, Third; Grace Beeson, Fourth; Draven Stephens, Fifth; Evie Middlestetter, Sixth. Business Fundamentals Concepts – Stacey Reder, First; Savannah Booker, Second; Mason Fetters, Third; Lukas Knight, Fourth; Lydia Mikesell, Fifth; Chloe Wolf, Sixth.

State-Bound Event Results: Financial Literacy – Jen Wolf, First; Zach Wilson, Second. Keyboarding Production – Aaron Crist, First; Draven Stephens, Second. Spreadsheet Applications – Daniel Nottingham, First. Administrative Support Team – Trinity Gilbert and Hannah Limbert, First. On March 16, 14 Franklin Monroe MS-MVCTC students traveled to Columbus, OH to participate in BPA Middle Level State Competitive Events. Students qualifying for National Competition in Orlando, Florida May 10-14, 2017 include: Grace Beeson, Mason Fetters, Daniel Nottingham, Bradley Rumble, Zach Wilson, Zack Wogoman, and Jen Wolf.

Middle Level BPA is fairly new in the State of Ohio and this is the first year for a middle school program at Franklin Monroe. Advisor Carrie Wiant said, “It has been a learning curve for students who are first year members and myself even though I am in my tenth year of being a high school advisor. Regardless, I am very proud of my students and their accomplishments. I look forward to seeing how the students perform in the next level of competition.”

BPA is the premier Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields.

BPA has 45,000 members in over 1,800 chapters in 25 states and Puerto Rico. BPA is a co-curricular organization that supports business and information technology educators by offering co-curricular exercises based on national standards.

As a co-curricular activity, Business Professionals of America has the ability to enhance student participation in professional, civic, service and social endeavors. Business Professionals of America members participate in these activities to accomplish its goals of self-improvement, leadership development, professionalism, community service, career development, public relations, student cooperation and safety and health.
