ACT Preparation Scam Warning

09/12/2018

Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Administration have received reports of suspicious phone calls to parents regarding the sale of an ACT Preparation CD.  The scammer claimed to be “from school” and tried to sell the parent an ACT preparation CD for $199, asking for the parent’s debit/credit card number.  The caller knew the student’s name and that the student is going to be taking the ACT this year. When pressed for more information about where he was from, the caller hung up.

MVCTC does not share student information.  If a student or parent receives a suspicious call from someone selling ACT Preparation CD’s, do NOT give them any information and please report the scam call to your local police department.

Ohioans can report scams to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office at www.OhioProtects.org or by calling 800-282-0515.
