MVCTC FCCLA Chapter Installs 2018-19 Officers

10/24/2018

On September 172018, the MVCTC FCCLA Chapter had our second meeting together in the Student Activity Center. The meeting began with a candle lighting ceremony for all of the officers: Olivia Webb, Zola Hassell, Allie Allen, Iyana Haggins and Sabrina Ezerski with a pledge to lead our members towards success. After the initiation ceremony, guest speaker Laurie Cross from the St. Vincent De Paul Homeless Shelter came to talk to the chapter about the problems of homelessness and what we can do to help this population get back on their feet, such as volunteering at one of their shelters and donating various items like shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.. We also finished up our 21 Days of Kindness Challenge, in which we did a raffle for those who participated for a chance to win prizes like pillows, t-shirts and tote bags in appreciation for all of their good deeds. As a group, we all watched a perspective changing video on how kindness is a chain reaction, and how we should always try to be kind to anyone we come into contact with on a day to day basis because you never know what someone is going through. We then wrapped up the meeting by playing a game of FCCLA Kahoot with a little dancing to get our bodies moving! It was another successful meeting and we can’t wait to get started on the next one!

FCCLA focuses on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader, members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.
