MVCTC CTSO Week February 11-15

What is a CTSO?  The mission and purpose of CTSO are defined as follows: 
Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) enhance student learning through contextual instruction, leadership, and personal development, applied learning and real-world application.  CTSO's work as an integral component of the classroom curriculum and instruction, building upon employability and career skills and concepts through the application and engagement of students in hands-on demonstrations and real life and/or work experiences through a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program.  CTSO’s help guide students in developing a career path, a program of study and provide opportunities in gaining the skills and abilities needed to be successful in those careers through CTSO activities, programs, and competitive events.  In addition, students have opportunities to hold leadership positions at the local, regional, state, and national level and attend leadership development conferences to network with other students as well as business and industry partners.  

The five CTSO's represented at MVCTC include:

Dress Days - Must still follow the school dress code

  • Monday – Favorite Sports Team/College Day
  • Tuesday – Patriotic Red, White, and Blue Day
  • Wednesday – Home School Attire Day
  • Thursday – Red for Heart Health Awareness
  • Friday – MVCTC Spirit Day (wear MVCTC kindness shirts)

BPA Chain of Love Challenge to Support the Special Olympics of Greater Dayton

CTSO's will compete against each other to see which CTSO has sold the most chains. The winning CTSO earns the MVCTC CTSO Trophy and a cookie party.

Chain links will be .25 cents each or 5 for $1.00 (may not spend more than $25.00/day)

  • Chains of Love is a Special Olympic fundraiser run by BPA. The money raised will be donated to the Special Olympics of Greater Dayton. Students and staff may purchase strips that will be assembled to look like chains. The chains will be color-coded and hung in the Student Activity Center to see which CTSO donates the most to Special Olympics. Strips will be sold during lunch the week of Feb 11-15.
