MVCTC Media and Video Production Program Partners with the Community

03/05/2019

The Miami Valley Career Technology Center welcomed Julie Lesley and her team from Grace Brethren Village into the Senior Media and Video Production lab to start the process of a Miami Valley CTC / Business Collaborative Video Project. Julie gave a great lesson to the group of students that will be working on the client project on who Grace Brethren Village who they serve, and the demographics of their clients.

The Grace Brethren Village team met with the student group Jasmine Jennings (Miamisburg), Alex Gerard (Vandalia-Butler), Kyle Burns (Wayne) and Tom Keomanila (Vandalia-Butler).

The students and Grace Brethren will be working together during the academic year to make what Media and Video Program Instructor Mr. Pat Carlisle calls a “Client Project”.  In the end, the student effort will produce a music video for Grace Brethren Village to use to recruit aging baby boomers.  The video project will display the services Grace Brethren Village provides to their clients.  Instructor Pat Carlisle stated, “This client project will benefit the students in working with diversity, working out in the public, and learning several video production skills.”  Julie Lesley added, “Not only will the students create a great video, they will become citizens who are respectful to all individuals.”

The MVCTC Media and Video Production program teaches a blend of computer software applications. Students receive training in Adobe Creative Suite software. Before the start of large senior projects, students are taught skills to create videos, graphics, and animation. Students also study Microsoft Office software.
