MVCTC FCCLA kicks off the 2019-2020 school year!

Englewood, Ohio- On August 30, 2019, the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Chapter had their first unofficial meeting of the school year in honor of Welcome Day.

 

The students of MVCTC’s Culinary Arts, Early Childhood Education, and Hospitality Services programs all met in the schools’ lecture room. Here everyone learned what FCCLA is, how to get involved, and had fun playing games.

 

The chapter officers for 2019-2020 school year include:

  • President- Elijah Walters, a Culinary Arts student from Vandalia-Butler
  • Vice-President- Samantha Hartzell, an Early Childhood student from Arcanum-Butler
  • Vice-President of Social Media- Parker Lenski, a Culinary Arts student from Miamisburg
  • Historian- Carly Hoskins, an Early Childhood student from Northmont
  • Secretary- Destiny Straszheim, an Early Childhood student from Eaton

 

The meeting consisted of introducing the new juniors to what FCCLA stands for and what the main goals are for the year. Students learned ways to participate and get involved in FCCLA to make it an exciting year.  The FCCLA Officers talked about the “No One Fights Alone Walk” one of the FCCLA community service projects. Finally, the meeting ended with games so students could get to know each other and give prizes on their knowledge of FCCLA.

 

At the end, of the MVCTC Welcome Day,  FCCLA had a table for people to make get-well cards for children that have been ill. FCCLA collected over 120 cards from MVCTC students that afternoon.

 

FCCLA is a non-profit national Career and Technical Student Organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Science education in both public and private schools through grade 12. Everyone is part of a family, and FCCLA is the only national Career and Technical Organization with families as its central focus. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal work, and social issues through Family and Consumer Science education.
