MVCTC Computer Coding Junior Earns Summer Internship At Globally Recognized Company

Englewood, Ohio – Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Computer Coding & Web Applications junior,  Alan Forshaw (Northmont), recently interviewed for and was offered an internship at San Francisco-based Repl.it, a globally recognized leader providing online software development tools to programmers around the world.

According to their website, Repl.it’s mission “is to make programming more accessible. We build powerful yet simple tools and platforms for educators, learners, and developers.” They provide online compiler, Integrated Development Environment (IDE), interpreter, and interactive multi-user computer programming environments supports for over 50 programming languages.

Melissa Goodall, MVCTC Computer Coding & Web Applications instructor, stated, “Alan, who has strong programming skills, is a Repl.it user and developer.  He was featured on a Repl.it podcast and newsletter discussing Pearl 6 and his fondness for esoteric and obscure programming languages.”

Alan’s internship is expected to begin around June 1, 2020, and will be in San Francisco.  Alan’s mom says, “We are proud of Alan and excited for him to have this opportunity!”

Alan is in the MVCTC Computer Coding & Web Applications program to earn a Fast Track programming certificate from Sinclair Community College.  The MVCTC program will also teach him team programming skills and industry best practices in development and application. The opportunity to earn the Sinclair Community College Fast Track Programming certificate while attending MVCTC is a great bonus to the Computer Coding & Web Applications program. The Fast Track is a melding of College Credit Plus, and other college credit opportunities combine to offer 18 college credits towards a Computer Science Associate’s Degree.

Alan is the son of Dan and Michelle Forshaw of Englewood.
