MVCTC SkillsUSA Chapter 4 Learns About Careers in Concrete Industry

Englewood, Ohio -  The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) SkillsUSA Chapter 4 held a meeting on February 5, 2020. The meeting included the introduction of the SkillsUSA Chapter 4 officers, information for CTSO Week, Special Olympics Charity fundraiser, CTSO Bulletin Board Contest, SkillsUSA Regional Contest, and guest speaker from Lithko Contracting, LLC, Claudia Lauch.

  • Regular Officers – Courtney Reese (Electrical), Laney Radford (Construction Carpentry), Cadance Marie Davis-Grilliot (Construction Carpentry)

 

The third quarter meeting began with the introduction of SkillsUSA Chapter 4 President Christopher Tharp, and the Pledge of Allegiance. Then information was shared about the CTSO Bulletin Board Contest, CTSO Week, and the Special Olympics Charity Fundraiser. Information was shared about the upcoming Regional SkillsUSA Contest. The highlight of the meeting was guest speaker Claudia Lauch from Lithko Contracting, LLC.

During the meeting, the guest speaker focused on teamwork and professionalism. Mrs. Lauch shared that Lithko Contracting, LLC, is one’s of the nation’s largest full-service, total-package concrete contractors. Lithko Contracting, LLC, is a growing commercial concrete construction with over 17 locations in the U.S. Mrs. Lauch shared that Lithko is committed to exceeding both internal and external customer expectations’ by providing cost-effective and quality concrete projects and creating opportunity to career progression through exposure to responsibility and continual company growth. Following this, she talked about the requirements to work at Lithko. These requirements are as follows: Must have reliable transportation, must pass a drug test, good attitude and willingness to learn, and must be honest. Near the end of Mrs. Lauch’s presentation, she tells everyone that Lithko is hiring workers for the spring and summer, and she informed the audience on how they can apply for a job at Lithko.
