MVCTC Virtual Professional Development Prepares Staff for 2020-21 School Year

Englewood, Ohio – The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) has worked hard to equip staff with the tools necessary to be effective in the online learning environment since the Governor shut-down K-12 schools in March of 2020. MVCTC has organized a variety of virtual professional development opportunities during this time.

 

Professional Development Workshops have all been conducted virtually since March and have included a variety of topics to assist MVCTC staff with online learning. Classes have been offered in areas such as:

  • Understanding & Being Effective Through Online Learning
  • Assisting Students Online – Intervention Specialists
  • Utilizing Blackboard Online Learning Platform
  • Creating Online Learning Lesson Plans
  • Creating Online Learning Opportunities with Google
  • Using Zoom
  • Using Google Forms
  • Connecting Classrooms to Careers
  • Creating Google Hyperdocs
  • How to use Microsoft Office Online
  • How to Use Google Classroom
  • How to Properly Sanitize Classrooms & Equipment
  • Using Zoom for Instructional Videos
  • Creating “How To” Videos for Career Tech

 

The MVCTC staff has also conducted staff meetings and collaboration sessions among disciplines since March, allowing the staff a chance to work together to create dynamic online learning opportutnies for students.

 

As staff is preparing for the 2020-2021 school year, the MVCTC Professional Development team is continuing to create and organize more virtual professional development for staff members. To date, MVCTC has offered 111 professional development workshops since March 26, 2020, equaling 101 hours of professional development.
