The MVCTC Program of the week is Digital Design.

What is this program all about?

Students in the Digital Design program learn web and motion graphics concepts. Design and code websites and create visual media vector/raster graphics, animations, video, and more. Explore the principles of graphic design, photography, creative filmmaking, motion graphics/animations, and 3D techniques. Study filmmaking principles such as storytelling and creative video production, animation, VFX principles, and introduction to 3D modeling. Opportunity to learn Swift, the iOS app development language. Students have the opportunity to earn industry-standard certifications through CIW. This program is taught by an instructor who is a CIW Certified Web Design Specialist. In addition, students learn with the CIW web design courseware.

Instructor Bio - Mrs. Donita Massing

Mrs. Donita Massing is a 1992 graduate of the MVCTC (Montgomery County JVS) Commercial Printing program. She started a career in commercial printing directly from the MCJVS, then transitioned into a teaching career at MVCTC after working seven years in the printing industry.
 
She holds an Associate Degree in Visual Communications from Sinclair Community College, a Workforce Education Certificate from Wright State University, a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and a Masters in Educational Media Design Technology from Full Sail University.

Mrs. Massing believes strongly in lifetime learning and staying current in the trade. She works on various client projects in web design, graphic design, video/multimedia, and e-learning in an effort to learn new skills in the evolving world of digital media design.

Her past design projects include a portfolio site for a professional photographer and MVCTC Photography Instructor, a site redesign for Woodspirits soap (now retired), a Pin Design Contest blog for SkillsUSA, a site redesign for Grace Brethren Village (which is no longer up), a car wash business website, branding, signage, video, and other digital media projects. She has also worked as a volunteer e-learning instructional designer for a non-profit education organization.

She enjoys working as a National Education Team member for the Pin Design contest at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference every summer. She currently serves as the Pin Design contest chairperson at the SkillsUSA Ohio championships.

Mrs. Massing is also a CIW Certified Website Design Specialist. Certification Partners will be featuring Mrs. Massing in their new web series called CIW Champions.
