MVCTC Aspire Classes Starting in January 2021

The MVCTC Aspire program has four classes starting on January 4! The Culinary Supervisor Class is for adults who want to learn to prepare foods in a commercial kitchen safely.  The course provides the option to earn a high school diploma for students 22 and older. Students have the opportunity to achieve the following certifications:  ServSafe, TIPS, and CPR/First Aid. Classes are at the Life Enrichment Center, 425 N. Findlay Street, Dayton, and run from January 4 - March 3, 2021, from 9 am - 2:30 pm. To register for this class, visit www.mvctc.com/ae/programs/aspire or email aspire@mvctc.com.

The MVCTC Aspire Construction Craft Fundamentals class runs from January 4- February 26, 2021. This is a hybrid class focusing on skills needed to succeed in the construction industry.  Students will learn basic linear measurements, construction math, create a resume, and interview for jobs.  The course will include introductions on how to use power & hand tools, interpret construction drawings, use rigging, material handling, and safety on the job.  Classes are at the Life Enrichment Center, 425 N. Findlay Street, Dayton.  

The MVCTC Aspire College and Career Prep for ESOL Professionals classes start on January 5, 2021.  This 15-week course will be offered via Zoom on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:30 am until noon. The course will help ESOL students enhance their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, specifically for college and the workplace. The MVCTC Aspire ESOL Culinary Food Handler class runs from January 4 through March 3, 2021, from 9 am until 1 pm, Monday - Friday.  This course will help students learn introductory culinary and supervisory skills for working in commercial foodservice operations.  Students have the opportunity to earn the Ohio Food Protection One Person-In-Charge certificate.  Courses include basic food cuts, safety and sanitation, measurements, portion control, reading and converting recipes.  Classes are offered at the Montgomery County Job Center at 1111 S. Edwin C. Moses Blvd., Room 279.
