MVCTC FFA Team Places Second in District Soil Judging Contest

Clayton, Ohio – The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Natural Resources Management Soil Judging team placed second in the District 5 FFA Urban Land Judging Career Development Event (CDE).  This year’s event was held on Wednesday, September 30, in Auglaize County.  More than 20 FFA chapters and 130 individuals participated.

The MVCTC FFA Team included members:

  • Logan Dickison (Milton-Union) placed 2nd overall as an individual
  • Zak Peele (Franklin Monroe) placed 14th overall as an individual
  • Nick Wheeler (Milton-Union) placed 18th overall as an individual
  • Aaron Abner (Eaton)  placed 20th overall as an individual
  • Mr. Mike Mullen is the team’s advisor and Natural Resources Management instructor.

The Urban Land and Soil Judging CDE is an educational activity designed as a practical method of teaching students to evaluate land and soil to determine its potential use for urban, home site, and other nonfarm uses. The team will compete in the State Soils CDE on October 17th.

For over 40-years, MVCTC has been providing career technical education for 27 partner school districts encompassing five counties, including Darke, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Warren Counties.  MVCTC is dedicated to providing in-demand workforce training for youth, adults, and organizations in the Miami Valley.
