MVCTC SkillsUSA Chapter 1 Strives to Share Positive Attitudes

Englewood, Ohio - The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) SkillsUSA Chapter I held its first meeting on September 19, 2016. The meeting included introducing new students to SkillsUSA, fun, and games.

                                                  

The new SkillsUSA Chapter I officers for the 2016-2017 school year are:

•           President – Haylee Penn (Cosmetology) West Carrollton

•           Vice President – Jaycee Groves (Dental Assistant) Carlisle

•           Secretary – Meredith Ketron (Cosmetology) Miamisburg

•           Treasurer – Bailey Pennington (Dental Assistant) Brookville

•           Reporter – Madison Cox (Dental Assistant) Tipp City

•           Parliamentarian – Rachel Coleman (Cosmetology) Vandalia Butler

•           Ambassador – Emily Dempsey (Cosmetology) Tri-County North

•           Student Advisor – Morgan Bell (Dental Assistant) Miamisburg

 

The meeting started with the introduction of our 2016 SkillsUSA Chapter I officers. Then we talked about how to become a regional officer, regional officer testing, and how the local officer team along with the regional officer candidates will  go to regional training in Columbus in November.

 

This year, the SkillsUSA Chapter I officers plan on making the meetings all about positivity and spreading happiness throughout each lab, the school, and the organization as a whole. SkillsUSA is a great organization that is for all age groups that provides leadership skills and training while promoting growth in individuals.

 

Our meeting topic this month was team building. Our activities included team building games that included face to face communication and getting to know one another. All of the students were actively engaged and had a great time.

At the conclusion of the meeting, we discussed our future community service project involving veterans. This project will take place in November. More information will be coming out in October.
