Heavy Equipment Operations Program 

  • Hours - 900
  • Weeks - 60
  • Class Schedule - Tuesday through Thursday, 5:30 - 10:00 pm
  • Program Costs - $14,600 (Financial aid is available for those who qualify) 
  • Salary Range - $35,210-$80,210 Based on data from Ohio Means Jobs

Description: The Heavy Equipment Operations program prepares students with technical knowledge and skills to operate and maintain a variety of heavy equipment. The mission is to prepare students for employment and to become leaders in the heavy equipment and construction industry with high standards.

 

Accreditation: The Miami Valley CTC Heavy Equipment Operations program follows the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum. Upon successful completion, students earn NCCER certification. NCCER’s process of instructor certification, standardized curriculum, assessment, student certification, and national registry is an industry leader for adult workforce education. ACT Workeys Levels required for admission: Workplace Documents Level 4; Applied Mathematics Level 4; Graphic Literacy Level 4

 

Program Goals:

  • Know the necessary health and safety practices in the trade
  • Perform operational techniques on numerous pieces of equipment
  • Identify grades, grade stakes, and related tools
  • Interpret civil drawings and related sitemaps
  • Understand soil characteristics and solve related issues that may prevail
  • Utilize necessary operations that increase work completion and efficiency

Courses Taught: CPR, OSHA 30, NCCER Core, Heavy Equipment Operations Level 1, Heavy Equipment Operations Level 2, Heavy Equipment Operations Level 3, CDL

 

Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) Program

  • Hours -720
  • Weeks - 54
  • Class Schedule - Tuesday through Thursday, 5:30 - 10:00 pm
  • Program Costs - $11,360 (Financial aid is available for those who qualify) 
  • Employment Rate - 92% Based on data reported to the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE)
  • Salary Range - $28,120-$68,070 Based on data from Ohio Means Jobs

Description: The HVAC-R Technician program trains technicians to install, maintain, and repair residential, and commercial systems. ACT Workeys Levels required for admission: Workplace Documents Level 4; Applied Mathematics Level 4; Graphic Literacy Level 4

Accreditation: This program holds national accreditation from the Partnership for Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration (PAHRA). PAHRA accredited schools meet or exceed rigorous instruction, curriculum, and facility standards for excellence.

Program Goals:

  • Know the necessary health and safety practices in the trade
  • Describe the sequence of operation of HVAC equipment
  • Read and use blueprints, design specifications, and manufacturer instructions
  • Fabricate sheet metal components for ductwork
  • Solder & braze fittings for necessary connections
  • Perform an HVAC-R load calculation on a complete system
  • Properly use pipe cutters, benders, acetylene torches, voltmeters, thermometers, pressure gauges, and manometers
  • Diagnose problems, test and overhaul compressors, test relays and thermostats

Courses Taught:  CPR, OSHA 30, NCCER Core, HVAC-R Level 1, HVAC-R Level 2, HVAC-R Level 3

 

Precision Machining Program 

  • Hours - 720
  • Weeks - 54
  • Class Schedule - Tuesday through Thursday, 5:30 - 10:00 pm
  • Program Costs - $11,690 (Financial aid is available for those who qualify) 
  • Employment Rate - 83% Based on data reported to the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE)
  • Salary Range - $26,770-$61,580 Based on data from Ohio Means Jobs

Description: The Precision Machining program offers a broad training experience that prepares individuals for employment in the precision manufacturing industry. Students will also have the opportunity to see the application of robotics and advanced manufacturing, and learn FANUC, Kuka, and Yaskawa robotics. ACT Workeys Levels required for admission: Workplace Documents Level 4; Applied Mathematics Level 4; Graphic Literacy Level 4

Program Goals:

  • Read and analyze engineering drawings.
  • Operate a variety of conventional machine tools
  • Use precision measuring and inspection instruments
  • Perform milling operations in an appropriate sequence
  • Demonstrate the skills and critical thinking techniques to set up, operate, and tear down manual, automatic, or computer numeric controlled (CNC) machine tools
  • Perform lathe operations in a sequence
  • Demonstrate conventional CNC machining with enhancements in CNC programming
  • Write a CNC program
  • Obtain Robotics Industrial Certification

Courses Taught:  Blueprint and Math 1, Machine Shop 1, Blueprint and Math 2, Machine Shop 2, Introduction to CNC Machining and Programming, CNC 1, Blueprint and Math 3, Machine Shop 3, and Robotics
