MVCTC Adult Education Healthcare Career Programs start March 7, 2022.

Central Service/Sterile Processing Technician

This MVCTC Adult program prepares students for a career as a Central Service Technician, Sterile Processing Technician, or Medical Equipment Preparer. Job duties include preparing, sterilizing, installing, or cleaning laboratory or healthcare equipment. May perform routine laboratory tasks, operate or inspect the equipment, check and prepare equipment for sterilization, deliver and pick up supplies to and from medical/surgical areas, and utilize technology to maintain inventory units.

  • Weeks - 30
  • Class Schedule
    • Weeks 1- 4: Classroom Times are Monday through Thursday, 6-9 pm
    • Weeks 5-30: Classroom Times are Tuesday nights only 6-8 pm
    • Weeks 5-30: Clinical days/times will vary per clinical site
  • Program Costs - $7,845 (Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Pell & Stafford funding authorized by US Dept. of Education)
  • Employment Rate - 80% Based on data reported to the Council on Occupational Education (COE)
  • Salary Range - $28,000 – $52,600 annually (Based on data from O*Net Online)
  • Industry Standard Certificates - Certified Endoscopic Reprocessing (CER) and Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)

Eye Care Assistant

The MVCTC Adult Eye Care Assistant Program trains students to become Ophthalmic Assistants or Ophthalmic Medical Technicians. These key healthcare team members provide quality eye care to patients in eye care facilities. Job responsibilities taught include obtaining vision measurements for glasses, administering eye exercises, taking medical histories, providing contact lens instruction, conducting diagnostic tests, and learning office management procedures.

  • Weeks - 44
  • Class Schedule - Monday through Thursday, 5:30 - 9:30 pm
  • Program Costs - $7,885 (Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Pell & Stafford funding authorized by US Dept. of Education)
  • Employment Rate - 100% Based on data reported to the Council on Occupational Education (COE)
  • Salary Range - $27,300 - $51,700 annually (Based on data from O*Net Online)
  • Industry Standard Certificates - Certified Ophthalmic Assistant

Medical Assisting Technology

The Medical Assisting Technology program prepares students to perform both clinical and administrative duties and assist a variety of providers including physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Learn skills to work in medical offices, clinics, urgent care centers and in general medicine or specialty practices. Common duties of a medical assistant include: checking patients in and out upon arrival and departure, answering phone calls and questions, assisting providers with exams and procedures, administering injections or medications, working in the electronic health record (EHR), performing EKG, phlebotomy, and laboratory procedures, and taking patients’ vital signs.

  • Weeks - 30
  • Class Schedule - Monday through Thursday, 8:30 am - 3:00 pm
  • Program Costs - $8,515 (Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Pell & Stafford funding authorized by US Dept. of Education)
  • Employment Range - 100% of the graduates are working as a MA or in related field or pursuing additional health education Based on data reported to the Council on Occupational Education (COE)
  • Salary Range - $25,900 - $42,900 annually (Based on data from O*Net Online)
  • Industry Standard Certificates - Certified EKG Technician (CET), Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), and Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
