Congratulations 2016 Skilled Trades Graduates

09/29/2016

On Tuesday, September 29, 2016, over thirty graduates were honored at the MVCTC Adult Technical Center Graduation for the Trades. The following five trade areas were recognized: Electrician, Heavy Equipment Operations, HVAC-R (Heating, Air and Refrigeration), Plumbing and Precision Machining. Many of the graduates have begun their chosen careers and are already employed in the field.

Students received career passports containing copies of their resume, list of competencies, certifications, and a guarantee letter for employers. The need for skilled workers is documented both locally and nationally. According to the Association of General Contractors (AGC) 31 million skilled trades positions will be vacant by 2020 due to baby boomers retiring. Good wages and great careers await the 2016 MVCTC graduates.

In addition, MVCTC graduates can benefit from new credit articulations in Ohio that provide graduates credit towards an associate degree through the One Year Option and/or Career Technical Credit Transfer. See the Ohio Department of Education’s website for eligible programs.
