Construction Trades

  • Carpentry I (NCCER) Designed by the National Center for Construction Education and Research. Includes lab and lecture. Key content: Building Materials; Fasteners and Adhesives; Hand and Power Tools; Reading Plans and Elevations; Wall, Ceiling and Roof Framing; Basic Stair Layout.

  • Electrical I Designed by the National Center for Construction Education and Research. Includes lab and lecture. Key content: Orientation to the Electrical Trade; Electrical Safety; Basic Electrical Construction Drawings; Test Equipment; Introduction to the National Electrical Code; Grounding and Bonding; Introduction to Conduit Bending; Conductors and Cable; Lighting; Circuit Breakers and Fuses. Prerequisite: NCCER Core.

  • HVAC-R I Designed by the National Center for Construction Education and Research. Includes lab and lecture. Key content includes Introduction to HVAC, Trade Mathematics, Copper and Plastic Piping Practices, Soldering and Brazing, Ferrous Metal Piping Practices, Basic Electricity, Introduction to Cooling, Introduction to Heating, and Air Distribution Systems. Prerequisite: NCCER Core

Key content: Explain the Basic Terminology, Types and Uses of Equipment; Explain the Responsibilities and Characteristics of a Good Operator; Explain the Importance of Heavy Equipment Safety. Prerequisite: NCCER Core
