Description

We are seeking a dependable and organized Food Manager to oversee all aspects of meal
planning, preparation, and kitchen operations for our childcare center. This role provides nutritious,
safe, and appealing meals for children ages 1–5 while maintaining high standards of cleanliness,
organization, and food safety.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and prepare weekly/monthly menus for children ages 1–5
• Prepare and cook daily meals and snacks
• Modify meals to accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions
• Ensure food is prepared safely to reduce choking hazards
• Order food and kitchen supplies while staying within budget
• Maintain inventory of pantry, refrigerator, and freezer items
• Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO method)
• Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen in compliance with health regulations
• Keep accurate records (menus, allergy lists, temperature logs, etc.)
• Communicate effectively with staff regarding children’s dietary needs
• Prepare food for occasional special events throughout the year
Qualifications:
• Previous food service experience preferred (childcare setting a plus)
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Ability to plan balanced, child-friendly meals
• Experience managing food allergies and substitutions preferred
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift 30–40 pounds
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment:
Childcare setting with an active kitchen. Must maintain a high level of cleanliness, safety, and
organization.
