RAMTEC – Robotics & Advanced Manufacturing Technology Education Collaborative

02/02/2015

In August of 2014 an Ohio Straight A Fund Grant was awarded to career center partners to create nine RAMTEC facilities in Ohio.  MVCTC will be the Miami Valley Region RAMTEC Facility providing training opportunities to a 12 county area (Darke, Preble, Miami, Montgomery, Warren, Clark, Mercer, Auglaize, Champaign, Greene, Clinton, and Shelby Counties). The proven success of the RAMTEC facility at Tri-Rivers Career Center in Marion, Ohio, will be the model for the additional eight facilities.  The goal is a collaboration between industry, education and government to offer industry certifications for Robotics, CNC Machining, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, and Robotics Welding, all in one facility.  This will provide a means to supply area industry leaders with a viable and highly trained workforce.  It is also a pathway for both high school and adult learners to receive in-demand training in the latest technology and leave with industry certifications, highly technical skills and optimally a new career.

Four of the largest robotics companies in the world are already partnering with RAMTEC to create curriculum, affordable training, and the certifications.  FANUC Robotics, Yaskawa/Motoman, FANUC CNC, and Lincoln Electric supply the highest percentage of Advanced Manufacturing equipment to the Automation Industry.  Students, both high school and adult, attending RAMTEC @ MVCTC will receive training and the opportunity to earn certifications on equipment from all four of these companies.

The data showing the demand for training in Advanced Manufacturing, doesn’t lie.  Ohio employs more than 650,000+ Advanced Manufacturing professionals with over 15,800 manufacturing plants in the state. In 2012, Ohio’s gross state product was $87.2 billion. (As cited on http://jobs-ohio.com/manufacturing/)  As these numbers continue to grow, the qualified employee will become even more in-demand. RAMTEC @ MVCTC will be prepared to meet this demand now and as our region continues to grow.  Visit MVCTC.com/RAMTEC to learn more and stay abreast of our updates.
