Arcanum MVCTC FFA Members Attend National Convention
“I Can. We Will.” was the theme of this year’s National FFA Convention. 13 members of the Arcanum-MVCTC FFA Chapter were in attendance at the convention in Indianapolis. Those members included from Arcanum MVCTC FFA Chapter were Travis Snook, Sidney McAllister, Zach Smith, Kaylee Wilcox, Jacob Osswald, Anna Loxley, Isaac Smith, Laney Fourman, Michael Vorwerk, Hannah Rammel, Shane Jackson, Emily Wenning and Samantha McAllister. Traveling with the Arcanum MVCTC FFA Chapter were students from the Milton-Union MVCTC and Miami East MVCTC FFA Chapters.
The theme for the convention challenged the students to: build better self-esteem, be leaders intheir communities, develop good communication skills, serve their communities and develop a good attitude of serving others.
More than 67,000 members, parents, and guests were in attendance at the National FFA Convention held October 25-28, 2017. Previous conventions were held in Kansas City, Missouri and Louisville, Kentucky.
Convention activities included attending several convention sessions were members where inspired by motivational speakers such as the 2016-2017 National FFA Officers and motivational speakers author, and boxer Laila Ali.
Attendees enjoyed attending the Rascal Flatts concert, World’s Toughest Rodeo, Buckeye Bash Dance, and a tour of the swine and dairy farm at Fair Oaks Farms. Members also attended the FFA Shopping Mall and Career Show.
Thank you to Mr. Brian Pohlman, Mrs. Marie Carity and Milton Union Administration for chaperoning the trip. Additional appreciation goes to the administration at Miami East Local Schools, Milton-Union Schools, Arcanum-Butler Local Schools, and the Miami Valley Career Technology Center.
FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. FFA membership today is comprised of 653,359 student members in grades seven through 12 who belong to one of 8,568 local FFA chapters throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
