Twin Valley South - MVCTC FFA Chapter September 2015

    Our first fundraiser of the year was a success! Thank you to all the members that participated and a big thank you to the buyers. We would also like to congratulate Austin Baker for selling the most mums. Austin sold 23 mums.

On September 10th we had our first FFA meeting of the year. During the meeting we discussed upcoming events and announced our first member of the month. Congratulations to Chyann Kendel for receiving FFA member of the month!   

On September 12th, our Ag 1 students attended the annual Greenhand Conference at Versailles High School. Members learned the basics about ag contests, SAE’s, CDE’s and teamwork skills.

On September 17th the Twin Valley South FFA Chapter had 28 members participated in the county soil judging contest. Congratulations to the following for advancing to district soils contest. For rural soils, Tommy Schielger, Haley Back, Kinsey Crowe, Gabbi Cooper, Brooklyn Harrod, Chandler Napier, Kaitlynn Crow, and Chyann Kendel. Also another congratulations to Tommy for receiving 2nd overall in rural. For urban, Haily Keener, Kayla Stiver, Bailey Schaberow, Hannah Cline, Autumn Irwin, Caitlyn Collins, Allie Hamilton, and Ryan Cline. Good luck to those competing in district soils on September 30th in Auglaize County.

    Some upcoming events and volunteer opportunities for September and October include :

On September 19th and 20th, many of our members volunteered at the Preble County Pork Festival. This year our chapter painted a pig, and received reserve grand champion.   

On Tuesday September 22nd, our chapter officers attended Farm Science Review in London, Ohio.

On September 25th, the chapter was in TVS’s Homecoming parade.

On October 10th, the chapter will have a float in West Alexandria’s Oktoberfest parade. We will also be helping with various activities at the festival during the weekend.

Starting Friday, October 16th the chapter will be selling fruit, nuts, and jerky as part of their annual fruit sale. Please contact the TVS Ag. Department if interested in purchasing from a student.

On October 15th, we will host our October FFA meeting after school.

On October 28th-31st, selected chapter members will be attending National Convention. We would like to congratulate FFA member Lisa Seim on earning her American Degree.

In late October, members will be participating in Trick or Treat for Cans on beggars night in West Alexandria. Members will collect cans to donate to the community food bank.
