"MVCTC started me on the path to becoming a graphic designer, showing me that design was the career path I wanted to pursue. Originally my Dad was skeptical about me going, thinking it was not the best choice to prepare me for college. Once he visited MVCTC's campus and could see what the Graphic Commercial Arts students could do he told me it would be stupid for me not to attend. Going to DAAP at the University of Cincinnati to study Graphic Communication Design (and Marketing) was the biggest educational challenge I have encountered, but I don't think I would have done as well if I hadn't attended MVCTC first. I went into the program having a strong familiarity with the three main Adobe programs, basic design principles, and great drawing skills. The professors at DAAP focus on teaching the theories of design rather than teaching you how to use the tools to make those theories come to life. The majority of my classmates had to quickly turn to online tutorials to learn programs they had never really interacted with while I was able to jump right in and get to work. MVCTC gave me a huge advantage in tackling college and I will forever be grateful. I am now a recent graduate from my five year design program with work experience under my belt. I look fondly back on my experience at MVCTC and can honestly say it was my favorite educational environment I have ever been in and that includes college. I would like to thank Mrs. Hetzer and Mr. Spitler for being my mentors in high school while I was at MVCTC. I am going out into the design field as a prepared candidate because of them. I am a major advocate for technical education and that is in large part due to my experience at MVCTC. I am proud to be MVCTC. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and keep up the good work."
