“MVCTC was a school that changed my educational future and also changed my outlook on life. My choice to got to MVCTC was out of my dislike for school in general. After attending MVCTC I not only grew in my own confidence as a person and as a student but I also learned a lot about who I was as a person. Under the teaching of Mr. Waid Lyons and Mr. Larry Seibel I was able to learn about something that I loved in Agriculture but I also was able to be an active member of the FFA at MVCTC. FFA helped me grow in my leadership skills that I use daily in my church as well as public speaking skills that I use daily. My senior year at MVCTC, I had the honor of being elected President of the FFA Chapter at MVCTC and this gave me the opportunity to work on many of the skills I use today in my professional world. MVCTC also prepared me how to manage and operate a business and work with people from lots of different backgrounds and stories. Without MVCTC and my development as a student and as a leader I would not have succeeded in school or in the professional world. Although I am not working directly in my field of study from my two years at MVCTC, the things I learned there and the experience I had at MVCTC are things that have shaped me to who I am today. I still get to work in the agriculture world as more of a hobby then as a career but I still love the agriculture world and that love was cultivated at MVCTC.

Both of my career teachers at MVCTC Mr. Waid Lyons and Mr. Larry Seibel are a huge part of my growth and success during my time at MVCTC. I was the outsider in an Agriculture class and they both helped me to learn and grow in my knowledge and experience often times spending more time investing in me to help me personally become a better student and person. They challenged me daily and encouraged me to try new things and step out beyond my comfort zone. In my year as President of the FFA Chapter they both worked to help me grow in my leadership, people skills and organizational skills. I still use many of these skills today and continue to build on the foundation that both of these men helped me build.

Miami Valley Career Technology Center was a place that changed my life as it helped me build a strong foundation and set me on a course for success personally, professionally and educationally.”
