MVCTC Media and Video Production Students Partner With the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disability Services

10/19/2016

Englewood, Ohio – The Miami Valley Career Technology Center welcomed Lucy Thobe and her team from the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disability Services (MCBDDS) into the Media and Video Production lab during the month of September to start the process of a Miami Valley CTC/Business Collaborative Video Project. Lucy gave a great lesson to the whole class on what (MCBDDS) does, who they serve, and the demographics of their clients. From there Lucy and her team met with a student group. The student group is a collaboration of three MVCTC Media and Video Production students: Lauren Meredith (Milton-Union), Skyler Duncan (Twin Valley South), and Jake Florea (West Carrollton).

The MVCTC Media and Video Production students and Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disability Services (MCBDDS) will be working together during the academic year to make what Media and Video Program Instructor Mr. Pat Carlisle calls a “Client Project” or collaborative video showcasing the services that (MCBDDS) provides to the local community.  In the end the student effort will produce an informative video for (MCBDDS) to use.  Mr. Carlisle further elaborated, “This client project will benefit the students in working with diversity, working out in the public, and learning several video production skills.”  Lucy Thobe from (MCBDDS) added, “Not only will students at Miami Valley CTC create a great video, but they will further develop the capacity to become citizens who are sensitive and respectful to ALL individuals.”

The MVCTC Media and Video Production Tech Prep program teaches a blend of computer software applications. Students receive training in the Adobe graphics programs.  Before the start of large senior projects, students are also taught skills to create web pages and videos. The Media and Video Production program is a College Tech Prep program, which guides the students to do additional learning at Sinclair Community College in Visual or Computer Information System Associate Degree programs.
