Eaton MVCTC FFA Parliamentary Procedure State Champions

01/18/2017

The Eaton MVCTC FFA Chapter competed in the State Parliamentary Procedure Career Development Event (CDE) on Saturday, December 17, 2016. Prior to this the team competed at the Sub-District and District levels, placing first at both, earning their way to the state competition. The team was seeded second based on an online test over parliamentary knowledge they took the Wednesday before. During the competition, members have to properly run a meeting based on a given agenda, which they have two minutes to talk over. Members are scored on preforming their abilities, discussions, secretary’s minutes, the chairman duties, and oral questions that are asked by judges at the end of the meeting.  They competed against three other teams in the first round and placed first, earning their way to the final round. In this round the team competed against four other teams, who had each won their first heat. The team placed first. They will compete during National FFA Convention against all of the other state winners in October. Member Cole Whitesell said, “This was one of the SMART goals I wrote my freshman year, and I’ve finally achieved it!” Member Blake Whitesell added by saying, “It was really exciting to win after three years of hard work.” FFA Advisor Mrs. Rebecca Holbrook said, “To see this group work so hard and achieve their goal was amazing.” Team members included Katelyn Niehaus, Cole Whitesell, Trent Broermann, Blake Whitesell, Daphne Durham, Andrew Brooks, and alternate Roy Davis. Congratulations to the Eaton MVCTC FFA Parliamentary Procedure team!
