MVCTC FFA Award Winners Recognized at Ohio FFA State Convention
Columbus, Ohio -- The 89th Ohio FFA State Convention has drawn to a conclusion. As we take a look at the convention in review we are proud to honor those students who have transformed the future of agriculture and have earned exemplary awards.
Veterinary Science Team - Hannah Walters (Vandalia), Marianna Lauofo (Miamisburg), Josie Zamora (Wayne), and Nicco Libertini (Northmont) of the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) FFA Chapter placed first as a team in the area of Veterinary Science. The Veterinary Science CDE is designed to assess the skills and knowledge that students must possess to prepare for post-secondary education and/or work in an animal health occupation, such as in a veterinarian’s office or in an animal research facility.
Aquarium Management Team - Jared Quigney (Tri-Village), Joshua Michael (Wayne), Brittany Dalton (Miamisburg), and Devin Bolin (Wayne) of the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) FFA Chapter placed 4th as a team in the state in the area of Aquarium Management. The Aquarium Management CDE is designed to evaluate students’ knowledge of fish-keeping trends and practical application of skills in the aquarium industry.
Animal Behavior, Welfare and Husbandry Team - Jasmine Hayes (Miami East), Kassidy Davis (Ansonia), Chelsea Cruze (Eaton), and MaKayla McClendon (Wayne) of the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) FFA Chapter placed 4th as a team in the state in the area of Animal Behavior, Welfare and Husbandry. The Animal Behavior, Welfare and Husbandry CDE is to stimulate student interest and to promote education in the basics of understanding animals’ evolutionary biology, their biological needs, and indicators of differing levels of welfare and how to holistically evaluate different facilities, husbandry and management. In addition, this CDE will provide recognition for those who have demonstrated skills and competencies as a result of animal behavior & welfare instruction.
Division 1 Grooming Team - Haley Baker (National Trail), Larissa Sparks (Eaton), Cody Matchett (Mississinawa Valley), and Kayla Griffin (West Carrollton) of the Miami Valley Career Technology Center FFA Chapter placed 4th as a team in the state in the area of Division 1 Grooming. The purpose of the Division I Grooming CDE is to evaluate students in maintenance grooming. The skills tested in this division should give the student a foundation to build on so that they may become a more skillful and knowledgeable groomer.
