Stellar Winter for MVCTC Auto Collision Program

03/15/2018

Englewood, Ohio -  Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Auto Collision program had a busy and productive winter of 2018.  Gabrielle McCarroll (senior from Arcanum) was awarded the Pat Kowalski Award from Voss Honda Collision Center in February. Garrett Burton (junior from Northmont) placed second in the SkillsUSA Regional Collision Repair contest and will represent MVCTC at the State SkillsUSA Contest in Columbus this April.

Three Auto Collision seniors are participating in the Pre-Apprenticeship Program at MVCTC this winter. Brody May is working at Evans Arena in Dayton, Gabrielle McCarroll is working at Troy Ford, and Barry Pence is working for Gerber Collision in Huber Heights.  These students attend MVCTC in the morning to complete their high school academic classes for graduation, then work in the afternoons.

The Auto Collision program also received a grant from the Collision Education Foundation for $1,000.  The mission of the Collison Education Foundation is to, “Support collision repair educational programs, schools, and students to create qualified, entry-level employees and connect them with an array of career opportunities.”

MVCTC received the 2017 American Family Insurance Grant, part of the Collision Repair Education Foundation Makeover Grant.  The Foundation also gives donations from auto collision suppliers including, tape, safety glasses, seam sealers, and all kinds of collision-related materials. This wonderful program is done each year to help career technical schools train skilled collision repair and refinish students to help replace the retiring workforce.
