09/11/2018

Englewood, Ohio - The Medical Office Management program at the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) has been expanding with internship and advanced placement opportunities. The program at MVCTC has had many alumni move on to work in various medical offices, dental offices, receptionist positions, and various other positions all over the local community. Many of these career opportunities started while students were seniors in the Medical Office Management Program.

Some successful internship placements for this current year include:

Logan Woods (Vandalia) is currently on internship at New Creations Counseling Center in Tipp City. Logan stated, “It is a great way to get some excellent experience for my resume and makes me more employable.” Logan is getting ready to start his senior year and is excited about already being out making money and getting real life experience job experience.

Shelly Brumbaugh (Franklin Monroe) is currently on internship at the Miami Valley CTC in the Adult Education Center in Englewood. Shelly stated, “I love my job and really enjoy going to work. It gives me a challenge.” Shelly has not made a decision long term yet, but is thinking MVCTC might be where she wants to continue to work after high school.

Chloe Holicki (Miami East) is currently on internship also at New Creations Counseling Center in Tipp City.  Chloe stated “I am making money while a senior and getting good experience of working in a medical office setting.” Chloe has ambitions of going off to college after high school and studying in the medical field.

MVCTC appreciates the multiple job sites/offices and business partners throughout the years that have hired and taken in students for advanced placement and internship. Those places include but are not limited to: CareerSource, Miami Valley Hospital, New Creations Counseling Center, Jackson Hewitt Tax Service, Digestive Specialist, MVCTC Adult Education, various chiropractic offices all over the Miami Valley, and various other offices in the area.

Mr. Sink elaborated on the transition of students as they move from students at MVCTC to employees in the local community, "The partnerships that I have with the many facilities around the area are the lifeblood of my program and help us turn out quality employees to fulfill the needs of the community.” The Medical Office Management program at MVCTC is designed to give students practical experience on how the administrative section of a medical office works. The MVCTC Medical Office Management students run a simulated medical office to experience scheduling appointments on the computer, maintaining patient records, and corresponding with insurers, patients and other medical facilities.

For over 45-years, MVCTC has been providing career technical education for 27 partner school districts encompassing five counties in Southwest Ohio.  MVCTC is dedicated to providing in-demand workforce training for youth, adults, and organizations in the Miami Valley.
