MVCTC SkillsUSA Chapter 2 Focuses on What SkillsUSA is all about.

Englewood, Ohio – The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) SkillsUSA Chapter 2l held its first meeting on August 30, 2019. The meeting included the introduction of the SkillsUSA 2 officers and the emblem ceremony followed by SkillsUSA 1 officer Olivia who is in the Dental Assisting program talking about her experience at the SkillsUSA National Conference this past June.

The 2019-2020 SkillsUSA Chapter ll Officers are:

  • President – Katalina Sizemore, Graphic Commercial Photography, Eaton
  • Vice President – Calista Oldfield, Graphic Commercial Art, Carlise
  • Secretary – Hana Witters, Graphic Commercial Art, Northmont
  • Treasurer – Megan Dankworth, Graphic Commercial Art, Tipp City
  • Reporter – Bailey Binder, Graphic Commercial Art, Vandalia
  • Parliamentarian –Dylan Triplett, Architectural Drafting, Northridge
  • Historian – Jordan Rohr, Auto Collision, Arcanum
  • Student Leadership Council – Aurora Mcvey, Graphic Commercial Photography, Valley View
  • Student Leadership Council – Colby Masters, Digital Design, Wayne

SkillsUSA senior Olivia Snowden (Twin Valley South) spoke about attending National Skills Competition as a Delegate.  All the MVCTC students that competed at the National Level, placed in the Top Ten Nationally in their competitions.

Olivia explained how participating in SkillsUSA competitions allowed her to make new friends and create new memories. She told everyone how it could be scary getting out of your comfort zone, but it is so worth it!  Olivia shared the importance of SkillsUSA and how going to nationals was the best day of her life. She wanted incoming juniors, and even other seniors to know and understand that even if you don’t place, it is still a fantastic experience to be apart of and to go through.

The first SkillsUSA Chapter 2 meeting was a success filled with inspiration and excitement. We will continue to make new relationships and spread positivity throughout our programs and continue to improve MVCTC.
