10/07/2019

Englewood, Ohio – The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) named Randy Parmenter, Chief of Operations & Maintenance at Wright Patterson Air Force Base as the recipient of the 2019 Friend of MVCTC Award.

The Friend of MVCTC honor was awarded at the 29th annual All Advisory Dinner held on Thursday, October 3, in the MVCTC Student Activity Center. MVCTC Superintendent, Dr. Nick Weldy, says, “This award is given each year to someone who is always supportive of our mission, our programs, and our students. Those nominated are the professionals who willingly give a tremendous amount of time and talent to ensure MVCTC has continued success”.

Mr. Randy Parmenter is the Chief of the Asset Accountability Branch within the 88th Civil Engineer Group, 88th Air Base Wing, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.

MVCTC Director of Instruction, Mr. Eric Dolan, shared, “Mr. Parmenter is a driving force in developing the apprenticeship opportunity for ten MVCTC skilled trades students with the 88th Civil Engineering Squadron at Wright Patterson Air Force Base during the 2019/20 school year. The students began work during the summer and will continue with their apprenticeship rotation throughout the school year.  When students graduate, they will have the opportunity for full-time employment at Wright Patterson AFB.  Also, there is the potential to grow our partnership next year in the area of Natural Resources. None of this would have been possible without Mr. Parmenter’s commitment to building a solid program that supports the mission of Wright Patterson AFB while giving students a chance to improve their skills in a real-world environment.”

The evening also included a district update by Dr. Weldy, and the opportunity for the 250 plus business partners to meet with MVCTC staff.  During the program advisory committee meetings, business partners, employers, alumni, students, and parents worked with the career technical instructors to guarantee the MVCTC curriculum is what students will need to know to be successful in their chosen careers.

Dedicated to providing premier educational choices and advanced employment preparation for youth, adults, and organizations, MVCTC has proudly served the Miami Valley since 1971.
