Twin Valley South Student, Jayla Denlinger, Enjoying FFA at MVCTC
Englewood, Ohio –Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Veterinary Science program has a primary goal to develop high school students with the veterinary occupational knowledge, marketable skills, and professionalism essential for initial employment and continued advancement in a veterinary medicine career. The MVCTC Veterinary Science program recently had several students compete in the District Job Interview Career Development Event (CDE) at Marion Local High School. One of those students, Jayla Denlinger, from MVCTC partner school Twin Valley South, placed 2nd in Division 5.
The Ohio Job Interview CDE is designed for FFA members to practice and demonstrate the skills needed in seeking employment in all areas of agriculture. Each part of this event simulates real-world experiences that students will have when seeking employment in the future. The contest consists of many skills including job applications, interviews, post-interview letters, and creation of resumes and references.
Jayla used an ad for an Animal Shelter Volunteer to create her documents for the competition. This is Jayla’s first year in FFA and her first Career Development Event to participate in with the MVCTC FFA Chapter.
The National FFA Organization (formerly known as Future Farmers of America) provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education. Today, there are over 579, 678 FFA members in grades seven through twelve who belong to one of over 7,570 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
