Program of the Week - Biotechnology 10/19-10/25/2020

10/30/2020

Program of the Week - Biotechnology! Students perform experiments in agriculture, medicine, genetics, and many other areas. The primary goal of the program is to introduce students to the research laboratory environment. Senior students will participate in independent research projects. Essential laboratory skills will be taught and can be applied to the many areas of biotechnology. Working in the biotechnology career field requires at least a two-year degree. Biotechnology will also prepare you for science classes at the college level. Learn more at www.mvctc.com/bt.

In the Biotechnology Program, learn Laboratory Safety and Maintenance, Laboratory Procedures, Introduction to Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics. Learn more here https://youtu.be/tSp8I33V7bA

Students prepare for careers as Microbiologists, Biomedical Engineers, Food Scientist, Clinical Research, or even to become a Medical Doctor.

Emma Sutter, Biotechnology student from Vandalia-Butler. " My best experience at MVCTC is a great hands-on experience for a career that I want to pursue in my future and learn about the fields in my lab. Another great experience at MVCTC has been being involved with HOSA and everything we do within the organization. After graduation, I plan to go to a four-year university and major in Biomedical Engineering and possibly a joint major in Pre-Medicine. I also plan on interning in biotechnology or a biomedical lab while in college. MVCTC has prepared me for my future by providing a wide range of career options that my lab holds and teaching me about them. My lab has given me great experience to help give me an advantage when I do this course-work in college."

McKenzy DeBoo, Biotechnology student from National Trail. "My best experience at MVCTC is the staff members! If I need help of any kind, multiple staff members will jump to try and help as best as they can!! They are truly appreciated! After graduation, I look forward to attending college, hopefully, Kettering College of Medical Arts, and earning my degree in Ultrasonography.
