MVCTC Alumnus Sydney Boyd Receives Auto Collision Repair Award

09/01/2021

Englewood, Ohio –  Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Class of 2021 alumnus Sydney Boyd earned the 2021 Pat Kowalski Memorial Award at Voss Collision Centre in Centerville, Ohio. The annual award honors an auto collision student from the SkillsUSA Southwest Ohio Region who exhibits a high level of integrity, dependability, initiative, positive attitude, and service to others. Pat Kowalski had a passion for helping students learn about the collision repair trade. He led dozens of tours as General Manager of the body shop at Voss. He was instrumental in getting Voss to host the annual SkillsUSA Ohio Regional Collision Repair & Refinishing competitions. Pat lost his battle with cancer in 2013, and the award was established to honor a student who exhibits Pat’s qualities. Their instructor nominates students, and the staff at Voss Collision Centre choose the winner. Sydney is currently employed in the collision repair industry and plans to make a career in refinishing.
