Englewood, Ohio – The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) SkillsUSA Chapter 4 held its first meeting of the school year on September 15, 2021.

The 2021-2022 SkillsUSA Chapter 4 Officers:

  • President – Ross Cornett, Construction Carpentry/Valley View
  • Vice President – Dylan Cornett – Construction Carpentry/Valley View
  • Officer – Mallorie Maxwell – Construction Carpentry/Northmont
  • Officer – Kendall Green – Construction Carpentry/Valley View
  • Officer – Gabriel Betzner – Construction Carpentry/Tipp City

The SkillsUSA Chapter 4 includes Construction Carpentry, Elecrical Trades, HVAC, and Heavy Equipment Operations programs.  The meeting started with the officers introducing themselves. Then, the students would share their name, their partner schools, and their MVCTC career program.

Gabe started by introducing himself and welcoming everyone to the first SkillsUSA Chapter 4 meeting. After this, Gabe asked everyone to please take off their head coverings and stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

The next SkillsUSA officer to come up was Kendall. Kendall introduced himself and asked, “What is SkillsUSA?” before a video introducing SkillsUSA was played. After the video, Kendall went back up on stage and informed our audience of it being our Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO) along with the number of student members.

The last student officer that was introduced was Mallorie. She introduced herself and went on to talk about how fortunate we are to have MVCTC pay our dues towards SkillsUSA. After this, another video was played on the members of SkillsUSA.

SkillsUSA Chapter 4 Officers Ross Cornett and Dylan Cornett were not able to be at the meeting. They were participating in the MVCTC School-To-Work Program and were on the job the week of the meeting.

Once the video was over, each officer described the colors and their meaning of the SkillsUSA emblem one by one. Once that was finished, the officers called up their advisor Mr. Kelly Kramer to introduce himself and the Framework of SkillsUSA.

After Mr. Kramer was done, Gabe came back up for the closing and thanked everyone for coming to the meeting.
