Englewood, Ohio – Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) SkillsUSA Chapter 2 welcomed its new officers on September 12. The officers are chosen to represent their chapter in official SkillsUSA events.

The new 2022-2023 officers are:

  • President – James Zbinden (Aviation Maintenance Technician/Huber Heights)
  • Vice-President - Cainan Sink (Aviation Maintenance Technician/Versailles)
  • Parliamentarian - Cayden Willis (Welding/Valley View)
  • Reporter - Alex Lyall (Robotics & Automation/Bethel)
  • Treasurer - Christian Cantrell (Robotics & Automation/Tri-Village)
  • Secretary - Malcolm Lee (Robotics & Automation/Bethel)
  • Historian - Ben Hartzell (Precision Machining/Mississinawa Valley)

The officers took their places on stage and proceeded through the opening ceremony. Then, each officer went up to the podium to announce their name, lab, and officer role. After a brief introduction, President Zbinden gave the stage to a representative of Launch Technical Workforce Solutions.

Launch is a company that supports businesses by providing them with a skilled workforce. The presentation covered Launch, its partners in industry, and the many progression paths offered to the students at MVCTC. Opportunities at Airborne Maintenance and Engineering Services, such as several technician and maintenance roles, were discussed as post high school jobs for MVCTC graduates.

When the presentation finished, the new officers took the stage again. The meeting closed with the SkillsUSA closing ceremony, and with a final gavel strike, the new officers were official.

This year, the Chapter 2 officers plan to hold several chapter-wide meetings to celebrate annual holidays, build camaraderie between the labs, and inform the students on personal and professional development.
