Englewood, Ohio – The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) named Nancy Mercer with Northmont Food Service recipient of the 2022 Friend of MVCTC Award.

The Friend of MVCTC honor was awarded at the annual All Advisory Dinner held on Thursday, October 6, at MVCTC. Superintendent, Dr. Nick Weldy, says, “This award is given each year to someone who is always supportive of our mission, our programs, and our students. Those nominated are the professionals who willingly give tremendous time and talent to ensure MVCTC has continued success”.

Nancy has worked for Northmont City Schools for 15 years and has been a true friend to Northmont and MVCTC.  Nancy currently serves as Catering Manager for Northmont Schools at MVCTC and has served thousands of students, staff, faculty and community members at both Northmont and MVCTC.

Dr. Weldy stated, “Nancy works extremely hard and takes her job seriously, creating beautiful presentations and delicious meals while truly taking care of people. Nancy believes that good food, served with a smile, can brighten days, start conversations and truly bring people together. I have witnessed the work ethic and dedication that Nancy Mercer demonstrates daily. It isn’t just that Nancy is a hard worker, it is that she cares about everyone and truly wants to provide an outstanding culinary experience for each guest, student and staff member.”

Her supervisor, Jordan Greve, shared, “She is a dedicated employee with a proven track record of outstanding performance. Nancy works tirelessly to meet the needs of our customers and her attention to detail is unmatched. She has an uncanny way of making all of our guests feel valued. When you sit down for a meal from Nancy, it is as if you are a part of her family.”

The evening also included a district update by Dr. Weldy and the opportunity for the 250 business partners to meet with MVCTC staff.  Advisory Committee meetings allow business partners, employers, alumni, students, parents, and career-technical instructors to work together on curriculum that will help students to be successful in their chosen careers.
