FFA Attends Greenhand Conference

First-year members from the MVCTC FFA Chapter attended the 28th Annual Versailles Greenhand Conference. The conference is designed to help motivate and encourage first-year FFA members (greenhands) to take advantage of the opportunities within the FFA. 

 Members had doughnuts, juice, and pizza lunch and received a greenhand conference t-shirt. The conference featured sessions by Branson Van Fleet (Ohio’s National FFA officer candidate), Aubrey Schwartz (State FFA President), Graham Carson (State FFA Secretary), Katie Oestreich (State FFA treasurer), Alyson Murphy (State FFA reporter), Kennedy Short (State FFA Sentinel), Benjamin Bitner (State FFA Vice-President at Large), and Landon Shelpman (State FFA Vice-President at Large). The conference also featured Dan and Charity Schroer, opening speakers with their speech entitled “ The Power of Choices.” 

The Statewide Greenhand Conference focused on opportunities in FFA/ Leadership, Teamwork, Goal Setting, SAE Exploration, and Communication. It also focused on CDEs through CDE rotations. The CDEs that were focused on included: Greenhand Quiz, Ag Sales, Public Speaking/Creed, Wildlife, Floriculture, Agronomy, Parliamentary Procedure, Food Science, Dairy Foods, General Livestock, Poultry Judging, and Dairy judging. Greenhands greatly benefited from this opportunity and are on the path to their greenhand degrees.
