MVCTC Students Will Compete at State SkillsUSA Contests

Englewood, Ohio – Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) students competed and placed in the Regional SkillsUSA Contest and the following students qualified to compete at the SkillsUSA Ohio Competition on April 25-26, 2023, in Columbus.

  • Advertising Design, 3rd place - Sophia Brunk (Graphic Commercial Art/Tri-County North)
  • Cosmetology, 3rd place - Sara Kramer (Cosmetology/Arcanum-Butler)
  • Crime Scene Investigation Team, 2nd place - Cameron Cline (Criminal Justice/Preble-Shawnee), Mason Hurst (Criminal Justice/Brookville), and Ashley Tirado (Criminal Justice/West Carrollton)
  • Esthetics, 1st place - Carson Minnich (Cosmetology/Milton-Union), Model - Chloe Oditt (Cosmetology/Carlisle)
  • Extemporaneous Speaking, 1st place - Malaki Sphar (Graphic Commercial Art/Miami East)
  • Job Interview, 1st place - Reagan Hull (Graphic Commercial Art/Tipp City)
  • Job Skill Demo, 1st place - Alyssa Jones (Cosmetology/Vandalia-Butler)
  • Nail Care, 2nd place - Riley Blakley (Cosmetology/Valley View)
  • Photography, 2nd place - Paige Keller (Graphic Commercial Photography/Eaton)
  • Promotional Bulletin Board Team, 1st place – Ashley Combs (Digital Design/Tri-County North), Riley Wilson (Digital Design/Milton-Union), and Trinity Marlatt (Digital Design/Milton-Union)
  • TeamWorks Team, 3rd place - Stephen Derksen (Construction Carpentry/Tri-Village), Christopher Hoskins (Construction Carpentry/Miamisburg), Grant McConnaughey (Construction Carpentry/Vandalia-Butler), and Emily Powell (Construction Carpentry/Valley View)

The SkillsUSA Ohio State Championships brings over 5,000 competitors, business and industry partners, instructors, and vendors together in over 100 contests in all 16 Career Pathways to showcase Career and Technical Education in Ohio. Students compete for the title of best in Ohio in their respective career fields. This prestigious event has something for everyone.
