MVCTC Sports Management & Marketing Instructor Zach Gueth, Named MVL Football Coach of the Year for 2023
Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) proudly announces that Zach Gueth, Sports Management & Marketing instructor, has been named the Miami Valley League (MVL) Football Coach of the Year for the 2023 season. This award recognizes Coach Gueth's outstanding leadership and contributions to the success of the Butler High School football program, a partner school district of MVCTC.
Coach Gueth's journey into coaching began during his high school experience.
"I was extremely fortunate and had unbelievable coaches throughout my athletic career, and that is what pushed me into coaching," shared Coach Gueth.
He was also inspired by his grandfather, Clearance Gueth, a revered teacher and coach for Greenville City Schools.
"I never thought about following in his shoes, but working in similar aspects of education and coaching is ironic. My grandpa was integral to vocational education at Greenville and was the boys' varsity basketball coach for many years."
This season marked Coach Gueth's 10th year at Butler, having spent nine seasons as an assistant coach before taking on the head coaching role this year. Under his guidance, the team achieved a remarkable 9-3 record, the best for Butler Football since 2002. Additionally, the team secured its first playoff victory in over two decades, a testament to the players and coaching staff's hard work and dedication.
Reflecting on the season, Coach Gueth highlighted the exceptional performance of the senior class, who, over their four-year careers, played a pivotal role in transforming the Butler Football Program. The team's success was underscored by crucial victories against Xenia and Tipp City, instilling a newfound confidence that propelled them to excellence.
Gueth humbly shared the credit with his coaching staff, acknowledging his achievement as Coach of the Year and emphasizing the collective effort that contributed to the program's success. He emphasized the importance of the team's desire to succeed and their ability to play for each other, highlighting key victories that solidified their belief in their capabilities.
In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Coach Gueth recognizes the importance of balancing academics and athletics for high school students. He instills discipline and time management skills in his athletes, emphasizing the significance of academic success. Gueth believes in providing students with experiences and skills that transcend the field, nurturing qualities such as hard work, accountability, and genuine interpersonal connections.
