Dental Assisting Senior, Mariah Day (Trotwood-Madison) Signs Letter of Intent to run track at Youngstown State

Congratulations to MVCTC Dental Assisting Senior Mairah Day from Trotwood-Madison. Mariah has signed a letter of intent to run track at Youngstown State University (YSU) for the 2024-2025 school year.  She will continue her education while at YSU, studying to be a Dental Hygienist.

Youngstown State head track and field coach Brian Gorby announced Wednesday that one of the top Ohio 2024 women's sprinters, Mariah Day, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Youngstown State women's track and field program for the 2024-25 season.

Day ranks as the fifth-fastest women's runner in the 60-meter dash in Ohio with a time of 7.69 seconds.

She is ranked as the sixth fastest 100m women's sprinter in Ohio with a time of 11.94 seconds and is ranked the seventh fastest 200m women's sprinter in Ohio with a time of 24.61 seconds.

At the 2023 Ohio Division I State Championships, she was eighth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.16 seconds. She ran a time of 11.98 seconds to advance to the finals. She was second at the district meet and sixth at the regional meet in the 100m. In the 100m her top time is 11.94 seconds. In the 200m, she won the district title with a time of 24.66 seconds. She had a best time of 14.71 seconds in the 100m hurdles.

She ran her personal-best time in the 60m dash as part of the Dayton Wolverines Track Club.

"Mariah is talented and versatile and has a senior year to improve on those already great times and performances," Gorby said. "Hopefully she will be the fastest incoming sprinter in YSU history come next fall."
