CLASS OF 2024: MVCTC SCHOLARSHIP NOTICE


DUE DATE: End of the school day on Friday, March 1, 2024 (including all recommendation forms)


ELIGIBILITY:

  • A minimum 3.5 MVCTC cumulative GPA
    • 3.0 MVCTC cumulative GPA for MVCTC Employee Association & Vernon Brown Scholarship)
  • 50.32 hours (8.5 days) or fewer total absences while attending MVCTC
  • No In-School Reassignment (ISR) or Out-of-School Suspension (OSS) discipline while at MVCTC
  • Senior must be accepted into an accredited school for Fall 2024
    • An accredited school is MVCTC adult education, technical school, or other college/university
  • GPA, ACT/SAT, ATTENDANCE, and DISCIPLINE data will be acquired by MVCTC staff
  • You will have the ability to note events, incidents, or medical concerns that may have negatively affected your attendance or GPA for the scholarship review committees to take under consideration

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Complete the MVCTC Scholarship application (https://forms.gle/sUkSKMDHR6VcUEDQA)
    • Scholarship selection, resume upload, essay response(s) are embedded within the application.
  • Upload a RESUME
    • List all school/non-school activities, work, and community/volunteer organizations you have participated in throughout high school
    • Include any career, academic, athletic, employment, or volunteer awards/recognition received
    • Be sure to indicate the years you were involved.
  • Acquire THREE (3) RECOMMENDATIONS (the form link will be emailed to those selected)
    • Share the recommendation form link (provided in the application) with the following:
      •  MVCTC Lab Instructor (Required)
      • MVCTC Academic Teacher (Required)
      • Applicant Choice (i.e., MVCTC/partner school teacher or a supervisor at work/church/community organization)
    • It is your responsibility to follow up with your recommender to be sure they submitted the form. Applications will NOT be reviewed if three recommendation forms are NOT received by the due date. Recommendation forms not submitted by the recommender will NOT be considered.

- ESSAY(S)

  • Spelling, grammar, and punctuation will be considered
  • 1,250 characters maximum per essay (roughly 250 words)

INTERNAL SCHOLARSHIPS:

MVCTC Employee Association Scholarships
  • Two – $750 awards
  • Award based on GPA (3.0 or higher), attendance, discipline, employment/volunteer experience, recommendations, and an essay (Additional essay required- see page 1)
MVCTC Superintendent Scholarship
  • One – $1,000 award
  • Award based on GPA (3.5 or higher), attendance, discipline, employment/volunteer experience, recommendations, and an essay

Treva and Robert Sidle Scholarship
  • Five – $2,000 awards (potentially one (1) from each department below)

Yoakum Family Scholarship (NORTHMONT SENIORS ONLY)
  • One – $550 award (award amount may vary)
  • Award based on GPA (3.5 or higher), attendance, discipline, employment/volunteer experience, recommendations, and an essay
  • Must be attending MVCTC and continue education at a technical school.
Vernon Brown Scholarship – (NORTHMONT SENIORS ONLY)
  • One – $800 award (award amount may vary)
  • Award based on GPA (3.0 or higher), attendance, discipline, employment/volunteer experience, recommendations, and an essay (Additional essay required- see page 1)
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Preference given to those pursuing a degree in the field of agriculture
