04/05/2024

On Wednesday, April 3, the Drones & GIS Technologies program from MVCTC engaged 2nd through 6th graders at Union Elementary School, providing them with hands-on experiences and insightful demonstrations. Mrs. Sugden and four students captivated the audience by shedding light on the program's potential applications in both military and civilian sectors.

The event was marked by interactive sessions, where students were immersed in activities that showcased the versatility of drones and GIS technologies. The engagement, from flight demonstrations to mapping exercises, was designed to spark interest in careers in GIS Technologies.

The impact of the Drones & GIS Technologies program extended beyond the event itself, as evidenced by the feedback from educators. A quote from the 6th Grade Math & Science teacher who organized the event emphasized its significance: "THANK YOU again for all your help yesterday. Many teachers told me that drones were definitely a highlight of the day."

MVCTC acknowledges the invaluable contribution of student helpers from various schools, including James McElroy from Twin Valley South, Chris Bradley from Northridge, Jayden Gambrel from Horizon Science Academy High School, and Khalil Hood from Northmont.
