Englewood, Ohio – Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Computer Technology Academy, Game Programming and Web Applications student, Travis Engle (Huber Heights), was recently awarded the Ronald Reagan Student Leadership Award.

Travis was nominated for the award by his Career Technical Instructor Melissa Goodall. Mrs. Goodall shared, “I nominated Travis to recognize him as a leader because he is BPA Class Vice President, BPA Chapter Parliamentarian, BPA Regional Parliamentarian, and he is screening for a state officer position, hoping to go all the way to nationals.”

Travis has also proved his leadership ability by acting as a group leader on a Java game programming project, a PHP Web Application project, and on creating a Flash game to showcase at Shawnee State College’s High School Showcase in November.  He is one of the students who will be showcasing his MVCTC program at the Ohio School Board Association (OSBA) Student Achievement Fair in November.

Outside of school Travis has also shown leadership ability by taking the lead on developing a WordPress site for his home school robotics club, as well as for the Buckeye Bridge Ride website at www.buckeyebridgeride.org, and worked with another student to redesign the MVCTC CTA website at http://cta.mvctc.com

According to the Reagan Foundation website, “The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation offers a way to recognize outstanding high school students whose leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship skills are emblematic of our nation's 40th President.”

For over 40-years, MVCTC has been providing career technical education for 27 partner school districts encompassing five counties in Southwest Ohio.  MVCTC is dedicated to providing in-demand workforce training for youth, adults, and organizations in the Miami Valley.
