MVCTC Agriculture Students Qualify for State Soils Contest

Englewood, Ohio - The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Rural and Urban Soil Teams participated in the State Soils Career Development Event (CDE) on October 11, 2014.  This year’s event was held at the Taft Reserve in Licking County. 

During this CDE, students judge soils to determine the correct use for both agriculture and commercial purposes, including the construction and engineering qualities of the soil.

The Agriculture and Livestock Production Team that qualified for the state contest included Ryan Helton (Huber Heights), Charles Monnig (Valley View), Alyssa McQuiston (Preble Shawnee), and Andrew Wright (Arcanum).

The Natural Resource Management Team that qualified for the state contest included McKenzie Harris (Eaton), Nick Wheeler (Milton-Union), Austin Elmore (Tri-County North), and Logan Dickison (Milton-Union).

For over 40-years, MVCTC has been providing career technical education for 27 partner school districts encompassing five counties in Southwest Ohio.  MVCTC is dedicated to providing in-demand workforce training for youth, adults, and organizations in the Miami Valley.
