Local Miami East-MVCTC FFA member receives $1,000 grant from Rabo AgriFinance via National FFA Foundation

A $1,000 grant has been awarded to FFA member Kelsey Kirchner of Conover, OH, by the Rabo AgriFinance through the National FFA Organization. The SAE Grant is designed to help FFA members create and enhance their supervised agricultural experience (SAE), a requirement that all FFA members must complete. An SAE requires FFA members to create and operate an agriculture-related business, work at an agriculture-related business or conduct an agricultural research experience. Upon completion of the grant fiscal year, grant recipients must submit a comprehensive report regarding their career development experience.

 

Kirchner is a member of the Miami East-MVCTC FFA Chapter and was selected from hundreds applicants nationwide. Kirchner will use the grant monies to expand her dog treats small business SAE. Kirchner makes and markets her own dog treats. The grant money will be used to purchase her own equipment so that she will not have to borrow from her family. She also plans to expand the variety of treats made. Currently she increase the variety of treats she markets. She markets her treats via social media and at local farmers markets.
