Ryan Helton - Class of 2015 Spotlight
Englewood, Ohio – Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) senior, Ryan Helton has made the most of his two years in the Agriculture Resource Management Program. From Huber Heights, he plans to attend Clark State Community College in the fall majoring in Agricultural Business Management. After two years at Clark State, Ryan hopes to attend the Kentucky Horseshoeing School where he will receive certification as a farrier with plans to open his own business. “I have always loved working with horses and being a farrier is what I hope to do full time eventually,” said Ryan.
Ryan shared, “I toured MVCTC because I was looking for options for my remaining two years of high school. I was amazed by this school and all of the programs and opportunities it offered. Once I saw the tractors, livestock, and other equipment the school had, I knew this would be the right place for me where I could gain the experience needed to succeed in life. The best part of being a student at MVCTC is having so many opportunities. I gained so much experience working with livestock, breeding, working on equipment, and planting/harvesting crops, etc. I came into the program not knowing a whole lot about livestock or the equipment. I definitely know a lot now and enjoy every part of the agriculture field. The experience I have gained at MVCTC and in my program is far greater than any other school around. I really enjoyed all of the hands on experience.”
Ryan is the son of Rick and Jennifer Helton of Huber Heights. He received the National Technical Honor Society scholarship and the Trustee Scholarship worth $8,400.
