05/08/2015

Englewood, Ohio – Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) senior, Jesse Ly, a Graphic Commercial Photography student from Vandalia-Butler, will be attending the University of Cincinnati's Art school DAAP in the fall to get his Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with a discipline in photography.  Jesse is currently using the skills he learned at MVCTC to run his own photography business, shooting portraiture, weddings, live band performances, and more.

Jesse shared, “The passion I had for art and creativity and expressing myself, and when I took on the focus of photography, and visited MVCTC as a sophomore, I fell in love, and knew that this is where I need to be to progress my knowledge within my field. Every day at MVCTC I have learned a new photography technique, or element to better myself for my future in my career field. Coming to MVCTC was one of the best possible decisions I could have made as a sophomore. I have progressed in a career that I look forward to venturing further into as my life goes on. Along with this the number of friends I have made with students and teachers alike, I believe I have met some friends who I will continue to have life long bonds with. The skills and abilities I have obtained from being in this lab has given me a head start to my career and life. Along with this I have received a plethora of opportunities from contests and competitions I have partaken and won, with the abilities I have learned here.”

Jesse is the son of James and Catherine Ly of Vandalia.  After having won a Gold Medal at the State SkillsUSA Competition in April, Jesse will be competing for a National Gold Medal in June at the National SkillsUSA Competition in Louisville, KY. He is also the recipient of the University of Cincinnati Cincinnatus Scholarship worth $6,000.
